He has more than 30 years of experience as a communications consultant, an executive in international marketing and communications firms, a political advisor and an entrepreneur. He has worked with boards of directors, senior executives and law firms in the management of high-profile investigations, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, land use issues, product recalls, media exposés and other controversies.

From 2009-2011, Larry was Managing Director and Head of Public Affairs at The Glover Park Group, a strategic communications firm in Washington, D.C. He led the firm’s communications for Toyota Motor Corporation during the auto company’s recall crisis in 2009-2010. He also led Glover Park teams advising JPMorgan Chase, Visa, Sea World, Blue Shield of California, and First Solar.
Previously, he was Senior Partner and West Region Director for Fleishman-Hillard. He also served as North American President for Manning Selvage & Lee, overseeing the firm’s business in the U.S. and Canada. He co-founded Kamer/Singer & Associates, a California public affairs consultancy, and later sold the firm to Grey Advertising.
He headed west coast public affairs for MCI Communications following the divestiture of the Bell System in the mid-1980s, was a government affairs representative for the Illinois Credit Union League, and worked in the Illinois State Legislature.
He began his career as a political campaign manager and consultant, working for former U.S. Senator Paul Simon and Reps. Abner Mikva and Lane Evans of Illinois, and former
Larry is an adjunct professor in the Professional Communication Program at the University of San Francisco, the Chief Information Security Officer at Carnegie Mellon University, and the Annenberg School of Communication at the University of Southern California. He has also lectured at Georgetown University; the University of California, Berkeley; Mills College; Saint Mary’s College; the University of Munich, the University of Western Ontario and the University of British Columbia.
Non-Profit and Public Service
He is an appointed member of the Napa County Mental Health Commission, and serves on the boards of the American Red Cross Bay Area, Dreamcatchers Empowerment Network, and The Pathway Home. He is past president of Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) in San Francisco, and has served on the boards of the San Francisco Jewish Community Federation and the Bay Area Council.
Honors and Awards
Mr. Kamer has been honored as a “PR All-Star” (Holmes Report), and as one of “America’s Top 10 Crisis Busters” (PR Week). He received a Silver Anvil award, the PR industry’s highest honor, for his work on a national product recall for Castleberry’s Food Company in 2007.
He earned his M.A. in Public Policy and B.A. in Political Science and Urban Affairs from Northwestern University.
